Located in the DMV area, we serve middle school, high school, and prep school athletes who are ready to grow in the classroom, on the court, and in life.
Our Core Values
Hard Work Accountability Leadership
At The Gillion Academy, our core values are built on hard work, accountability, and leadership. We expect every student-athlete to give their full effort in the classroom and on the court, to take responsibility for their growth, and to lead by example—uplifting their peers and setting the standard for excellence. Scholar Athlete Development
Academic Excellence
At The Gillion Academy, we offer a structured, self-paced academic program designed to meet the unique needs of middle and high school students. Our academic model prioritizes mastery, mentorship, and internal motivation—removing distractions and replacing them with meaningful structure and high standards.
-
Students learn through an innovative hybrid academic curriculum mixing online accredited education supported by in person licensed teachers ensuring mastery of content. Our academic offering is nationally accredited and NCAA certified and designed to prepare our scholars for college.
-
Parents play an active role in shaping their son’s academic path. With support from our Head of School, families select from a range of rigorous options—including honors, AP, dual enrollment, and college prep courses—to create a curriculum that challenges and motivates each student.
Each student’s academic learning plan is reviewed weekly, with structured oversight to ensure accountability and maintain a strong GPA. Our approach keeps parents involved while providing the clear expectations, adult guidance, and consistent follow-through that students need to stay engaged and thrive.
-
We intentionally remove the distractions commonly found in traditional school settings by creating small, supervised peer groups led by professional academics and mentors. Students learn alongside like-minded peers who share academic and athletic goals, within a structured environment that includes weekly academic oversight, constant supervision, and a culture of focus, accountability, and purpose.
Weekly sessions with teachers and provided tutors ensure all students can master content and excel in all academic areas.
Life Skills Program
We know that success in life takes more than talent. That’s why we provide intentional, daily training in the skills that help boys grow into mature, capable, and confident young men. Our Life Skills Program is integrated into the academic and athletic experience—reinforcing discipline, leadership, and purpose in everything we do.
-
Our Financial Literacy Program teaches scholar athletes the fundamentals of saving, investing, borrowing, credit, and business development through year-round seminars led by financial professionals, entrepreneurs, and adjunct college faculty. The goal is to inspire confidence, entrepreneurial thinking, and long-term financial responsibility.
-
Our Career and Basketball Guest Lecture Series brings in professionals, college coaches, and pro athletes to share life lessons, career insights, and mentorship with our scholar athletes throughout the year.
-
Gillion scholar athletes participate in organized college visits to explore academic pathways and understand what it takes to apply and succeed. It’s never too early to plant the seed—and inspire focus on their future beyond high school.
Elite Basketball Program
At The Gillion Academy, basketball is more than a sport—it’s a foundation for discipline, leadership, and long-term success. Our program is designed for serious student-athletes who are committed to growth—on the court and off. Players receive top-tier skill development in a highly structured, mentor-led environment.
-
Our basketball leadership team is made up of former Division I coaches, players, and professional trainers with over 20 years of experience. Together, they’ve placed 200+ athletes in college and helped more than 50 reach the professional level—building a trusted track record of long-term development and mentorship.
-
Student-athletes train on-site at our Springfield, VA facility, which includes an NBA half court, shooting court with Dr. Dish machines, weight room, recovery room, film studio, and more. Training is integrated into the daily schedule with 20+ hours per week of elite instruction, film study, and performance development.
-
We offer tailored development for Middle School, High School, and Prep School cohorts—each designed to match the athlete’s stage and goals. They've made my son and us feel like family from day one, made us comfortable from the start. One of the main takeaways we've seen so far is our son's defense has really improved. So it's really nice to see that all the hard work that they're putting in to him is paying off.
